Against All Odds takes on a journey of finding love in the aftermath of a disaster. A mass shooting takes place at a local bridal boutique and through that carnage, two amazing women find love in its aftermath. Bryant, Ullrich, and Cummings come together to weave a fabulous story or strength, love, and survival.
Peyton Clarke is an off-duty police officer who is finally getting her dress fitted for her sister’s upcoming wedding. A bit hungover after a night out with friends Peyton is struggling with a pounding head. Another customer also in the boutique for a bridesmaid dress fitting takes pity on her and offers her water and some friendly banter. Tory Stevens, a real-estate agent is immediately taken by Peyton. She cannot help but flirt with the gorgeous stranger. Minutes away from asking each other out these two ladies encounter a worst-case scenario.
Bradley Richter is going to steal away his ex-fiancée. She left him, destroyed his life and now is planning to marry another. Bradley is going to steal her back and make everyone pay for ripping them apart. He is a nutcase in every sense of the word. Bradley arrives at the bridal boutique and opens gunfire on everyone, killing eleven and leaving Peyton fighting for her life.
The three authors take the voice of Peyton, Tory, and Bradley and weave a story full of love, survival and well, in Bradley’s case disturbed. Our two leading ladies have an adorable chemistry and a sweet love story. This isn’t as heavy as a story as it could have been. Which I liked. The main focus is on their romance and coming together in the aftermath of a disaster. A lovely story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I so loved Totally Worth It and was super excited for the sequel to the lesbian Sex and the City-esque story. I did, however, pump the breaks when I found out from a few fellow reviewers that the sequel left you with a broken heart (Meg & Sasha forever). So finally when the third part of the series came out, I am ready to do some power reading and zip through two and three back to back.
I am a fan of this series. I like the style, the pacing, the friendships all tied around cute and sexy romances. For me, this book was all about redemption for Sasha. She let the girl get away and she sure as hell better get her back. Who is this Reina and why is she still here? The story also re-introduced Sam and added a new character, Lucy. If you loved the first one, were frustrated with that disastrous ending of the second, well let me tell you the third one will give you nothing but joy and happiness.

I just finished Totally Worth It by Maggie Cummings. Let me say it was totally worth it (pun intended). This is a wonderful read! It was absolutely delightful and refreshing. Great book, I am absolutely astonished that this is the author’s first book. Maggie Cummings, you are on my list of authors whose books are a must read from now on!
There are two main characters that this book follows. The first is Megan “Meg” McTiernan. Meg just moved in to an all female community, Bay West, after finishing her MBA. She is recently single, a little wounded, super overworked, and ready to get back in the dating pool.
The other main character is Alexis “Lexi” Russo. Lexi is Meg’s new BFF and next door neighbor, who has lived in Bay West her whole life. She’s finishing her third year of law school, and is actually interning at her other neighbor’s law firm. This neighbor just happens to smart, sexy, young and single.
While this book is a romance, the absolute best thing is the relationship between Meg and Lexi. Their friendship is so well written, Maggie Cummings wrote their interactions like you would talk to your own bestie. You can think of a two person Sex in the City-esque friendship. Lighthearted, fun and sure to put you in a good mood! Can’t wait for the next one in the series. The way Maggie Cumming’s writes I know it’ll be fantastic.
