The Holiday Treatment by Elle Spencer

I think Elle Spencer writes delightful books. Her 2018 book, Casting Lacey, happens to be one of my all-time favorites. Her latest novel, The Holiday Treatment, is what everyone needs right now. FUN! Pick this one up and enjoy the ride because this gem keeps you smiling and giggling the whole way through.

Holly Hudson is the queen of feel-good Christmas movies. She writes holiday love stories for Wifetime network. Holly creates movies that give people Christmas cheer, the only thing is, she loathes the holiday. As soon as she can she heads for Hawaii to getaway. This year, she happens to run into her longtime crush, Wifetime producer, Meredith Drake.

The whole book is funny. Holly our main character is a hot mess. She is adorable, witty, and keeps you in stitches. Meredith is 100 percent taken with her and the chemistry is palatable. The push-pull of their love story keeps you engaged the whole time. At times it is so sweet and the other times, well it is super sexy.

Great read, highly recommend. If you need a book to escape, this is it. You will love this adorable read that gives you a ton of fun. Who doesn’t need more fun in their life right now?

Out of Practice (Legal Affairs #2) by Carsen Taite

Out of Practice by Carsen Taite is book number two in Taite’s Legal Affairs series. This book can easily be read as a standalone, but I would recommend beginning in order. This book is focused on Abby, an overworked lawyer who is finally doing something for herself and taking a dream beach vacation to relax, unwind, and have a little more fun for once. Abby meets Roxanne, who dazzles her from the very first moment she sees her.

Roxanne is a blogger, who specializes in weddings. She has a huge following and therefore is undercover while working at the beach resort both she and Abby are staying at. Roxanne makes the calculated risk of not telling Abby who she is and what she really does. They hit it off and a vacation romance begins and ends. The hiccup is both feel more than they should for a vaca hook-up and when they both get back to their hometown of Austin. They do meet again but it turns out they are on opposite sides of a legal battle involving a bridal dress shop gone bankrupt.

You know if you go for a Carsen Taite book you are going to get a great read. It’s guaranteed every time. I thought this book was so fun and engaging. The characters are well developed, the chemistry is there and the legal drama keeps you engaged. I am not usually one for the instant-love but Taite does this one so well. I cannot wait for book 3 in this series.

Worth the Wait by Karelia Stetz-Waters

Long lost loves is a trope I am always drawn to. I think because you always have that angstiness. I love angst. Totes adore it! I love that emotion of I miss you, I want you, what the hell did I do to F it up so badly. Roll that into some heartache and throw in past high school drama and you have me interested. Add that to it that one of our leading ladies is an actress, okay twist my arm, give it to me. Give me this book! So when Karelia Stetz-Waters reached out to me, I could not resist in giving this book a go. I am so glad I did. This was a fabulous read that kept me interested the whole time.

Avery Crown has been a reality television star for the past fifteen years. She has a good thing going with her home makeover show. She works with a great crew, her co-star is her best friend and she is adored by her fans. Avery loves what she does. Everything is perfect career-wise, but what eats her up is that one fateful day her senior year in high school that she turned her back on her best friend and her mega-crush. She chose a chance a stardom over her heart, and her heart has never forgiven her for it. When her tv show, King & Crown delivers her back to Portland to do a remodel and it coincides with her high school reunion, Avery crosses her fingers and toes that this will be her chance to reconnect with the girl that she let get away.

Merritt Lessing has zero intention of returning to Vale Academy for her fifteenth-year high school reunion. She doesn’t want to go back but at the insistence of her friend, Merritt agrees under duress. She wants to help her friend Lei-Ling get a cameo on King & Crown to jumpstart her food truck business. She knows that this opportunity could help her friend break out into this competitive industry. She agrees to aks Avery Crown, the girl that shattered her heart for help, but it takes all of her willpower to go back. Avery walked out on her and never looked back, those scars have stayed with Merritt for years and have defined every relationship she has attempted.

I totally loved Avery and Merritt. I thought they had a great chemistry together that just jumped off the page. This is a book where you know these two are meant to be together but like most star-crossed loves the universe is going to throw everything including the kitchen sink in their path. They are going to go through obstacle after obstacle including a lot of miscommunication to come to happily ever after. If you have patience I promise you will love this book. A lot of fun, some angstiness and a good romance.

Eyes Like Those by Melissa Brayden

I have a handful of favorite authors who I will read anything they write. What is glaringly apparent to me and my biased little heart is nothing, nothing, comes close to a Melissa Brayden book. (Well, there is one other writer, but we will leave her nameless for dramatic effect). How is she this good? Each book captivates me, her characters, their dialogue, it gets me every single time in the best possible way. I mean really, how is the dialogue so good? It just reads so well! I would give up coffee on a cold winter morning for this lady’s books. They are just that amazing!

After the reading slump of all reading slumps, knowing that this was on the horizon gave me hope for an amazing story with protagonists I couldn’t help but love. Did she deliver? Oh hell yes! Goodness gracious that was fantastic. Do you know a moment when you’re reading along and your heart stops, and you start talking out loud trying to get the character to listen to you? You are so immersed in a story you can feel every emotion radiating off the page. This happened to me with this book! How great is that?

The story starts off with Isabel Chase losing yet another terrible job and fretting how she was gonna pay the bills. Being a waitress is not a fit for Isabel but she keeps doing the job to keep her cat fed and force herself to continue to write, her one true passion. As lady luck strikes just at the right moment, Isabel gets the chance of a lifetime and heads to Hollywood to interview for a staff writer position on a hit television family drama. This is her big break if only she can keep her fears and anxiety at bay.

Taylor Andrews is the executive producer for said TV show. At 32, Taylor has become the It Girl in TV. Her shows have high ratings and basically, everything she touches becomes a success. Shonda Rhimes, better watch out! With five years at the helm, the ratings have dipped just a bit and it’s time to shake things up to keep the show going.

I will say both characters are fabulous. They’re fun, they’re interesting and Brayden makes them so real, with flaws and all. You can’t help for rooting for their success and romance. Not, to mention she gives you a handful of other characters that you will be chomping at the bit to hear their stories as well. I’ll wrap up my gushing, with this book is delightful. Brayden brought the heat with this one and I loved every second with it. I cannot wait for the next in the series. If you are a Brayden fan grab this one and enjoy the ride! Good Lord, it was good!!!
